Australia Day, with thanks to all Australians

gratitude natural world Jan 26, 2017

I give thanks for the people whose long occupation of this land made it’s plants and animals and birds what they were when my ancestors arrived.
I give thanks that I can walk alongside these people today.
I give thanks for my ancestors, who – by choice or force – left their homes so far away and sailed for these white shores, without iPhones or internet.
I give thanks for what Australia is today – a land of many peoples and unique wildlife and wide open spaces.
I give thanks for my family and friends with whom I share this special land.
I give thanks for today.
